Did you survive Thanksgiving Day without gaining weight? Let us know how you did. Here's another tip to help you maintain.
Tip #2 - Know your Basal Metabolic Rate. Follow this link to calculate your BMR. It is based on your specific age, gender, height and weight. http://health.discovery.com/tools/calculators/basal/basal.html
Basal Metabolic Rate... What is that?
Your Basal Metabolic Rate or BMR is the amount of calories or energy your body uses each day to perform its necessary functions. If you add this number to the number of calories you burn doing your daily activities and exercise, this is the number of calories you can consume daily without gaining weight.

Knowing the rate your body burns calories definitely helps in determining how to maintain or lose weight. I've seen a lot of people think all they have to do is eat fewer calories to lose weight (that's a lot of what the world teaches) - but a lot of times all they're doing is slowing their metabolisms down more because they don't change their activity level. Just eating fewer calories and maintaining the same activity level will most likely result in you hitting a plateau at some point and having the weight come back on. It's important to retrain your metabolism to burn more calories, so don't just stop eating - instead get moving!
